SpiritKeepers Topics and Presenters for November & December 2008

SpiritKeepers meets Sunday mornings (except for the first Sunday of each month) from 10:00 am – 12:00 am. On the first Sunday, we encourage you to find other forms of spiritual nourishment and to bring it back and share it with the fellowship.
Our location: The West Boulder Senior Center at the NE corner of 9th & Arapahoe

November 9 - Forgiveness Practices for Healing & Inner Peace
with Altazar. It has been said that holding resentment(s) toward another is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. When resentment, vindictiveness or judgment arise in our consciousness, the only healthy solution is forgiveness. The practice of forgiveness is central to all effective spiritual paths that offer practitioners healing, inner peace and the possibility of enlightenment. Altazar will share insights on the forgiveness practices he has learned over 20 years of working with teachings from Buddhism, Christian Mysticism, Astrology & 12 step programs. Those attending may also share their experiences regarding the healing they have found in extending forgiveness.

November 16 - New Horizons in Spiritual Awareness
with Joe Davinroy. Are you curious about how to replenish your own energy, release unwanted energy patterns and attract what you want into your life? Joe Davinroy will lead you through a guided meditation that will enhance your intuitive awareness about your energy field. He will describe strategies to heal yourself and others with tips on how to integrate spiritual awareness into your daily life. Joe is a professional chef; he is the owner of Specialty Catering Inc. in Evergreen, CO. He has studied energetic healing and clairvoyant reading at Psychic Horizons Center in Boulder, CO. for the past two and a half years, and danced in the Denver and Star House Circles for many years.
SpiritKids Sunday: The kids dance with the adults then have their own presentation.

November 23 -Why the Dances of Universal Peace Matter
with Christine Hart M.D. Our universe functions as a hologram. The instant we create our good wishes and prayers, they are already received at their destination. Holding the space for love, harmony, beauty and peace creates it. We'll talk about fascinating studies that support these phenomena, and --then reflect on how our Dance / Spiritkeepers community consciousness has been useful in the past, and what we might intend for our future. Christine is an MD who works with energetic shamanic processes. She is constantly amazed and delighted with the potential of our universe to bring peace and healing to out everyday reality.

November 30 - Iniari: a DVD for “Children” and Their Families
with Marianne Green. This original DVD adventure for children ages 4 - 10 revolves around Iniari, a fox vixen, initiating her small cubs into the wonders of nature. Interwoven in expansion and contraction are 'Healing Sounds', as well as more classical instruments and sounds of nature, all of which nourish the bodies and souls of the children and their families. The 22-minute DVD will be followed by commentaries from the 'kids' and a discussion around healthy media in our homes. Text, Narration and Musical Compositions are by Marianne Green, the Magical Illustrations by Brenda Ferrimani

December 14 -Playback Theatre
with Ira Liss and Theater Company Members. "The spontaneous enactment of personal experience in Playback Theatre builds connection between people by honoring the dignity, drama, and universality of their stories." [Quote from an international theatre group website] Think back on a moment when you moved a step toward humanity, spirituality or wisdom. Imagine the insights and perspective possible if you could see that moment recreated or "played back" instantly, safely -- with lightness. That's the beauty of Playback Theatre, a healing form of improvisation performed throughout the world. Join us in spontaneity as Ira Liss performs as part of local theatre company, Boulder Playback Theatre.

December 21 -Winter Solstice
with Kenna. Each year a ritual at Winter Solstice is held in Findhorn Foundation. It gives one an opportunity to walk the Labyrinth, sit in silent contemplation and to choose an Angel quality for and in celebration of the New Year ahead. This opportunity allows a space for intentionally greeting the New and releasing the Old. As this is the Solstice of Darkness, the winter, the time of rest before rebirth, it can be a powerful time for silent introspection. Join us in the celebration of quietude, renewal and direction for the New (calendar) Year, as well as a seasonal new year. It is suggested to bring a ‘sitting’ pillow since it is a meditation with some movement. Kenna lived at Findhorn Foundation some 2.5 years, while there she facilitated the Children and Family Department. Children are very welcome.
SpiritKids Sunday: The kids dance with the adults then have their own presentation.

December 28 -Awakening the Dreamer . . . A mini Pachamama Symposium
with Carolyn Hart. The Pachamama Alliance was formed when the Achuar indigenous elders and shamans of Ecuador actively sought a partnership with the modern world. The Achuar knowledge that the health of the rainforest was vital to health of our planet and the recognition that the threat to their ancient way of life lay far beyond their rainforest home spurred them on in seeking this alliance. Carolyn has just completed the Pachamama Symposium Training: Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream. In this mini symposium, Carolyn will present pictures taken during an immersion into the Achuar territory, present a short video about the alliance, and facilitate connections between people who care about sustainability, spirituality, and social justice.

SpiritKids Band: The SpiritKids Band, under the direction of Gwin Lehman-Fell rehearses on the two Friday nights prior to the third Sunday of each month, when they perform. To be eligible, children 8 years and older may attend rehearsals from 7:30 to 9:00 pm in the basement of The Mennonite Church (where the Friday night Dances of Universal Peace are held at Table Mesa and Broadway in Boulder.)
